Looking for the best 4K wallpaper for iPhone 17 in 2027? Here are 10 brand-new, free 4K wallpapers made for the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max. This list is fresh: you will find a green aurora, a sparkling Milky Way, a misty pine forest, golden desert dunes, turquoise ocean waves, a neon rainy street, an autumn forest road, pink cherry blossoms, a jungle waterfall and a lavender field. Every wallpaper is cut in tall portrait format at 1320 x 2868 pixels, so it fits every iPhone 17 model with no blur. Below you will also find the right wallpaper size, easy setup steps and simple Lock Screen tips.
The iPhone 17 series came out in September 2025, and it is still a great phone to own in 2027. The screen is a Super Retina XDR OLED display with ProMotion, so it can refresh up to 120 times every second, and peak outdoor brightness can reach 3,000 nits. Phones last for years, but a new wallpaper is the cheapest way to make yours feel fresh again. You see it every time you wake the screen, so a good image makes a big difference to how the phone feels. This guide gives you ten new iPhone 17 wallpapers in 4K, plus the right sizes, simple tips and an easy way to set them.
The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro have a 6.3-inch screen with 1206 x 2622 pixels. The iPhone 17 Pro Max has a larger 6.9-inch screen with 1320 x 2868 pixels. All of them sit at about 460 pixels per inch, so small details look very crisp. Please check Apple's official page for the final specs. The screen is tall and narrow, so you need a portrait wallpaper, not a wide desktop picture.
That is why every wallpaper here is cut at 1320 x 2868 pixels. This is the exact size of the Pro Max screen and a little bigger than the iPhone 17 and 17 Pro screen, so one file fits all three phones with no stretching. It is also far above Full HD (1080 x 1920), which has to be stretched on a 460 PPI display and can look soft.
📱 Best Wallpaper Size for iPhone 17, 17 Pro & 17 Pro Max
- iPhone 17 & iPhone 17 Pro: 1206×2622 px (6.3-inch OLED)
- iPhone 17 Pro Max: 1320×2868 px (6.9-inch OLED)
- iPhone Air: 1260×2736 px (6.5-inch OLED)
- Best all-round file: a 4K portrait image (about 2160×4680 px) so iOS can crop, zoom and move it without blur
- Always choose portrait, not landscape, to avoid stretching or ugly cropping
✨ Why Use 4K Wallpapers on iPhone 17?
- Sharper image: stars, leaves, waves and city lights stay clean, even on the 460 PPI screen
- Room to crop: iOS zooms the wallpaper a little, and a bigger image still looks sharp after the crop
- Smooth parallax: when you tilt the phone the wallpaper moves slightly, and a high-resolution file keeps this effect smooth
- Deep blacks on OLED: black pixels turn off, so dark wallpapers look richer and can use a little less power
- One file for every model: the same 4K file works on the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max and iPhone Air
How We Picked These iPhone 17 Wallpapers for 2027
Our last iPhone 17 list was full of dark skies, mountains and abstract gradients. This time every wallpaper below is new, and none of them repeats an image from that guide. We looked for a clear subject that still looks good when iOS zooms the picture, a calm area near the top for the big Lock Screen clock, rich colours for OLED, and enough variety for every mood. If you want to see our earlier picks too, read our first iPhone 17 wallpaper guide.

Milky Way Sky — Thousands of Stars Over Uruguay
The Milky Way stretches across a sky full of stars above Punta Ballena in Uruguay. Thousands of tiny stars are a real test for your display, because a weak file turns them into soft dust, while a sharp 4K file keeps each one clear. The dark background is perfect for OLED, and the glowing band gives the picture a strong focus. A great pick for anyone who loves space. Free 4K download.

Turquoise Ocean Waves — Aerial Beach View

View & DownloadWhich Wallpaper Matches Your iPhone 17 Colour?
The iPhone 17 comes in Black, White, Mist Blue, Sage and Lavender, while the iPhone 17 Pro comes in Silver, Cosmic Orange and Deep Blue. Please check Apple's site for the final colour list. You do not have to match your wallpaper to your phone, but a matching colour can look very neat, especially with a clear case. Blue phones go well with the ocean waves and the Milky Way. Sage looks good with the jungle waterfall and the pine forest. Lavender pairs with the lavender field and the cherry blossoms. Cosmic Orange works with the desert dunes and the autumn road. Black and Deep Blue are great with the aurora and the neon city street.
How to Choose the Right Wallpaper for Your iPhone 17
Dark and glowing wallpapers. For the best contrast, choose a picture with deep blacks and bright light, such as the aurora, the Milky Way or the neon city street. OLED screens turn off the pixels that show pure black, so the colours around them stand out more.
Calm nature wallpapers. The misty forest, the jungle waterfall and the turquoise waves are easy on the eyes. Soft, even textures keep your icons readable when your Home Screen is full of apps and widgets.
Warm and cosy wallpapers. The golden dunes and the autumn forest road bring warm orange and yellow tones, and they stay readable in bright sunlight.
Light and colourful wallpapers. The cherry blossoms and the lavender field are soft, pretty and cheerful. They suit lighter phone colours and clear cases.
iPhone 17 Lock Screen Tips for iOS 26 and iOS 27
The iPhone 17 series launched with iOS 26, which brought the Liquid Glass design and a Lock Screen clock that can grow to fill the empty space on the screen. This means the top part of your wallpaper matters more than before. Choose an image with a calm area at the top, such as dark sky, soft fog or a smooth sky colour, so the big clock stays easy to read. If you update to iOS 27, your saved wallpapers keep working, so you do not need to download them again.

- Do not send wallpapers through chat apps such as WhatsApp, because they compress the image and you lose sharpness
